My adult Urban Fantasy novel, Murphy’s First Law, needs your help!
What is a beta reader?
Well, I’m so glad you asked. It’s very similar to playing a beta of a video game. You get to play free and before anyone else so you can help the game designers catch the bugs in the game. For beta readers, it’s pretty much the same concept only with a book.
What are the requirements?
All you need is any version of MS Word or Open Office and the desire to read about my little chaos class sorceress, Jac. It’s that simple. There are no special skills or qualifications needed.
What do I have to do?
Provide feedback on the novel. Good, bad, it doesn’t matter. I want to hear it so I can make the book better. Proofreading isn’t expected, but if you beta read like I do you may not be able to help yourself from fixing any errors you come across and that’s fine. What I’m mostly looking for are plot holes, continuity issues, believability, and your general impressions on the story.
What will the beta readers be reading?
The current draft of Murphy’s First Law. Here’s a quick synopsis: Jacquelyn Montgomery is a Jinx; the living breathing embodiment of Murphy’s Law. When you’ve accidentally blown up a college chemistry lab, killed your boyfriend and best friend, and attracted the attention of the Justicars who hunt down and kill your kind, what do you do? You hide out in a city no self-respecting sorceress would set foot in: Indianapolis. You pray the endless cornfields surrounding the city will help hide you. News flash: They won’t.
